Sixty is the new fifty I'm told
Although my mirror doesn't agree.
Learn a new skill I'm assured
That will keep me busy as a bee.

Over the hill is better than under
Or so I've been led to believe;
Age Concern doesn't seem to care
Sending funeral adverts whilst I still breathe.

Spend my time being useful
Implies what? that I've not?
So celebrate like there's no tomorrow
Especially with a brandy tot!

So the big 6-0 is finally here
I can't think where it's all gone;
My mum used to say it's gone in a flash,
All this retiring lark's a bit of a con!
